In October of 2019, our team here at Rescu hosted a fun, family-friendly event to celebrate the launch of the newest version of our app (that’s now free for everyone!), as well as unveiled the brand new Rescu Prime subscription, that comes with enhanced safety features.
We invited the entire El Cajon community to the Ronald Reagan Community Center for an afternoon of safety education, games, giveaways, and entertainment. The response we got was overwhelmingly positive from start to finish and we couldn’t have been more happy with the turn out!
For those of you who weren’t able to make it out, here’s what you missed:
Fun for the Whole Family
We wanted our launch party to be fun and exciting for everyone in attendance, so we really pulled out the stops to ensure it was an event to remember. We made admission completely free and kept the doors open for anyone who wanted to come by, which brought in families, the elderly, first responders, and many more.
Some of the things that helped make this event so successful were:
Awesome Prize Giveaways
What’s a party without some fun giveaways? Thanks to the support we received throughout the planning of the event, we were able to score some impressive prizes. Everyone who came received a raffle ticket that entered them to win any of the following prizes:
- 3 $100 Amazon gift cards
- Nest indoor security camera
- Nest Protect
- “Date Night” gift basket
- Spa gift basket
- Cash basket
- Samsung 65” HD TV
The lucky raffle prize winners were so excited to be taking home some really cool items (especially the 65’ TV!). All attendees were also welcome to spin the prize wheel to get one of our Rescu themed swag prizes. Our personal favorites were the Rescu coffee mugs and chapstick.
Delicious (Free) Food
While attendees were perusing the prizes and educational booths, they got to chow down on some delicious food and treats! Two different food vendors were serving throughout the event offering street tacos and hotdogs. Guests also had the option of snacking on fresh popcorn and cookies adorned with our company logo.
Fun Entertainment
As we said before, we set out to make this event fun for everybody, so we tried to incorporate as many entertaining activities as possible. For families with kids we had Rescu branded games like giant jenga, connect four and cornhole, as well as face painting and balloon art.
And let’s face it, no event is complete without at least one group dance of the Cha Cha Slide and the Cupid Shuffle. The DJ kept everybody up and moving throughout the day with an incredible playlist.
We genuinely loved the photobooth as well. It was fun to watch guests gear up in their quick-change photo items. Seeing all the photos after the event reinforced the fact that the launch party was in fact, super fun!
Helpful Safety Education
While we were eager to put on and fun and exciting event for the public, our overall mission was to educate everyone on the personal safety benefits of the Rescu app, as well as general health and safety with the help of our vendor friends. We had the pleasure of having the following vendors join us for the event to provide helpful safety education to our attendees:
- Borrego Health
- Connect Hearing
- First Promise Care Services
- County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA)
To understand the helpful benefits of Rescu, the best personal safety app, our CEO Paolo Piscatelli explained the story behind why Rescu was created – when his father struggled to contact and speak to emergency dispatchers via 9-1-1 and waited 30 minutes for help to arrive. From there, Paul set out to create a way to send for an ambulance, without talking to a 9-1-1 dispatcher and simultaneously notifying his loved ones automatically.
We also got to hear personal stories from a couple of Rescu users, including Nate, who is a deaf. Nate explained that while being deaf does not hinder him, it can be difficult to communicate with others – and especially during an emergency. Which is the reason why he uses Rescu. He even said that having Rescu “helps his mother sleep at night”!
In addition to first account stories from Rescu users, attendees were also given the opportunity to download and learn how to use Rescu. At the demo station, there were test mobile devices setup where the Rescu team was busy educating attendees on how simple the app is to use.
Rescu Gets an Upgrade
While our launch party was full of fun and games, the whole purpose of having it was to educate the community on the benefits of Rescu and discuss the new and exciting safety upgrades our app got. Here’s a quick look into what we unveiled:
Rescu Version 2.1: Free for Everyone
The most exciting announcement we made at the launch party was the fact that our new version of Rescu is now available for everyone at no cost at all. Why did we decide to make Rescu free? Because we believe so strongly in our mission to deliver better personal safety to everyone across the country, plain and simple. We truly didn’t want finances to hinder someone’s ability to receive the fastest emergency response out there.
Here’s what comes with the newly free Rescu app:
- The ability to dispatch medical help (ambulance)
- Storage of 1 dispatch address (like your home)
- Input of emergency contacts, who are also notified when dispatch is requested
- A test mode feature that allows users to test the app safely before actually using it in live mode
- Valuable personal and family safety information provided by Rescu and our partners via blogs, emails, and more
Rescu Prime: Enhanced Protection
In addition to making Rescu free to the public, we also unveiled the brand new Rescu Prime subscription, a separate version of the app that provides more protection for its users. Our team also wanted to give everyone the option to have additional safety features at their fingertips for a reasonable cost ($60/year).
Here’s what comes with a Rescu Prime subscription:
- The ability to dispatch medical (ambulance), police, and fire help
- Storage of 4 dispatch addresses
- Homeowner’s insurance certificates, upon request (for possible discounts)
- Input of emergency contacts, who are also notified when dispatch is requested
- A test mode feature that allows users to test the app safely before actually using it in live mode
- Valuable personal and family safety information provided by Rescu and our partners via blogs, emails, and more
- Immediate access to the newest Rescu Prime features as they roll out
